ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying vestibulodynia (VBD), a common condition that causes pain in the vaginal area without a clear cause. The goal is to find better ways to diagnose VBD by examining the cells in the vestibular region of women who experience this pain. Researchers believe that understanding the biological differences in this area could lead to the development of specific tests that help identify VBD earlier, which is crucial since many women suffer in silence due to lack of awareness and understanding of this condition.
To participate, women aged 18 to 50 who have not engaged in sexual intercourse or used intravaginal products for a week prior to the visit may be eligible. Those with other conditions, such as generalized vulvodynia, endometriosis, or recent infections, are excluded. Participants can expect a pain-free cell swab test from the vaginal area, which will help researchers look for specific markers of VBD. This could lead to improved diagnosis and personalized treatment options for women suffering from this condition, ultimately aiming to enhance their quality of life.
