ClinConnect Summary
The Leading Healthy Eating and Activity Promotion Program, also known as the LEAP project, aims to help cancer survivors and their families living in areas with persistent poverty. The main goal is to support these individuals in making healthier choices about what they eat and how much they exercise. The program will involve the community to create a plan that fits their specific needs and challenges, focusing on improving overall health and well-being.
To be eligible for this program, participants should be between 18 and 89 years old, speak English, and live in the Birmingham area. They should have a history of cancer themselves or be a friend or family member of someone who has survived cancer. However, individuals who have serious hearing difficulties, a history of dementia, are currently receiving cancer treatment, or have other health issues that could affect their participation will not be eligible. If you join the program, you can expect to engage in activities that promote healthy eating and physical activity, all tailored to your community's needs.
