ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new way to monitor cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection using saliva samples from women undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer. CMV is a virus that can affect some cancer patients, and this study aims to see if testing saliva is an effective method for keeping track of the virus and any related symptoms during their treatment. The trial is currently looking for female participants aged 18 and older who are receiving care at Mayo Clinic and actively undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer, whether it's their first treatment or for a recurrence.
Participants in this study will provide saliva samples and may also answer questions about their symptoms. This research could help doctors better understand how to manage CMV infections in ovarian cancer patients. It's important to note that women who are pregnant or have certain cognitive issues, like dementia or a history of stroke, cannot participate in this trial. Overall, this study is a step toward improving care for women facing ovarian cancer and its complications.
