ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new device called StrokePointer, which is designed to help ambulance personnel quickly identify patients who might be having a specific type of stroke called large vessel occlusion (LVO). This type of stroke requires a special treatment that can only be provided at certain hospitals. Currently, many patients are taken to the wrong hospital, causing delays in receiving crucial care. The StrokePointer device uses a method called EEG to gather information about brain activity, which can help determine if a patient should be taken directly to a hospital that can provide the necessary treatment.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 18 years old and suspected of having an acute stroke, meaning they have symptoms that started within the last 24 hours. They also need to give their consent to participate, which can be done by themselves or a legal representative if they are unable to do so. Throughout the trial, participants can expect to have their brain activity monitored using the StrokePointer device while being evaluated by ambulance staff. This research aims to improve the speed and accuracy of stroke diagnosis in emergency situations, ultimately helping patients receive the right treatment as quickly as possible.
