ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at new ways to help parents reduce underage drinking among first-year college students. The researchers want to see if using a fun app that gives personalized feedback about drinking habits, along with educational content, can be more effective than traditional methods, like an email campaign or a parent handbook. They will include about 2,040 students from LMU and Lehigh University, and they hope that students with parents involved in the new app-based program will drink less and face fewer problems related to alcohol.
To participate in the trial, students need to be incoming first-year college students aged 17 to 20 and have a parent or guardian with an email address registered at the university. Participants will be randomly assigned to different groups, where some will receive the new app-based intervention, while others will get different types of support or no intervention at all. The trial is not yet recruiting, but it aims to understand how these different approaches can change drinking behaviors and improve communication about alcohol between parents and their college-aged children.
