ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the effects of melatonin on pain management after a surgical procedure called simple nephrectomy, which involves removing a kidney. The researchers want to see if giving melatonin can help reduce pain, how much pain medication (like morphine) is needed in the first 24 hours after surgery, and how satisfied patients feel about their pain control. They will also look at other factors like anxiety levels and any side effects that might occur.
To participate, you need to be between 18 and 65 years old and be scheduled for a simple nephrectomy. Some people may not be eligible, including those with allergies to melatonin or certain health conditions, such as heart problems or mental impairments. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive melatonin and be monitored for your pain levels and overall experience after surgery. This study is currently recruiting participants, so if you are interested, it’s a good idea to discuss it with your healthcare provider for more information.
