ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how many travelers and migrants with chronic schistosomiasis, a disease caused by parasitic worms, have active infections at the time of their evaluation. Researchers will use various methods to check for the presence of the infection, including blood and urine tests, and possibly stool tests. Participants will receive a thorough health evaluation, which will help doctors understand the severity of the infection and its impact on their health.
To join the study, participants must be diagnosed with chronic schistosomiasis (meaning they have had the disease for more than three months) and be able to give informed consent. This trial is open to everyone aged 18 and older. Participants will have their remaining blood samples stored for future research, but this is optional and won’t affect their ability to join the study. Overall, this research aims to improve understanding of schistosomiasis and how it affects people's health, especially for those who travel or migrate.
