ClinConnect Summary
The Elevate Weight Loss Trial is a study aimed at helping people with overweight or obesity lose weight more effectively. The trial compares two different ways to deliver a weight loss program: one is an automated online program that participants can do on their own, and the other is a group-based program conducted through videoconferencing. Additionally, the study will look at whether having a personal coach improves weight loss compared to not having one. Everyone who joins the trial will follow a 12-month weight loss program that includes goals for reducing calorie intake and increasing exercise. Assessments will be done at the start, halfway through, and after the program ends, as well as six months later to see how participants are doing.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between 65 and 74 years old, have a body mass index (BMI) between 25 and 45 (which indicates being overweight or obese), and have access to the internet at home. However, you cannot join if you are currently pregnant, recently lost a significant amount of weight, or have certain medical conditions that could make weight loss unsafe. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to find out which approach to weight loss works best for different people, helping to create better programs in the future.
