ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring the effects of occupational stress on surgeons and musicians. Researchers want to understand how stress impacts these professionals by looking at their mental health, brain activity, and physical markers in their bodies. They will use questionnaires, wearable devices that measure brain waves, and tests to analyze blood samples. The goal is to gather information that can help improve the well-being of people in these demanding jobs.
To participate, you need to be an adult aged 18 or older, either a professional musician (like those in orchestras or with music degrees) or a neurosurgeon at MD Anderson. Musicians must have a performance scheduled within three months, and surgeons must have a surgical procedure planned in that timeframe. Unfortunately, individuals with severe cognitive or psychiatric issues, or who cannot speak English, will not be able to join. If you do participate, you can expect to share your experiences and undergo some simple tests to help researchers learn more about stress in your profession.
