ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how an artificial intelligence (AI) tool can help doctors better diagnose ear infections in young children who have cold symptoms. Ear infections are common in kids aged 6 to 24 months, but diagnosing them can be tricky because of the small size of their ear canals and how much they move around. In this study, researchers will take pictures of the eardrums of these children and use the AI app to see if it improves the accuracy of diagnosing ear infections. The goal is to ensure that antibiotics are only given to children who truly have an ear infection, which helps prevent unnecessary use of these medications.
To participate in this trial, children must be between 6 to 24 months old and have symptoms of an upper respiratory infection, like a cold. However, children who do not have these symptoms or have certain conditions, like ear drainage or tubes in their ears, will not be eligible. If your child is selected for the study, they will have their eardrum pictures taken, and the AI tool will help the doctors figure out the best treatment. This research could lead to better care for young children with ear infections in the future.
