ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is investigating a new treatment for young people in Hong Kong who struggle with social anxiety and depression. The study is testing whether using virtual reality (VR) combined with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can help reduce feelings of anxiety and improve overall mental health. Participants will be young individuals aged 15 to 24 who have been identified as having significant social anxiety. They will take part in six sessions, each lasting an hour, where they'll use VR to face their fears in a safe environment. Their progress will be tracked before the treatment starts, right after it ends, and again three months later to see if the VR therapy has made a lasting impact.

To be eligible for the trial, participants must be between 15 and 24 years old and score above a certain level on a social anxiety test. However, those who are currently receiving other intensive treatments, have certain medical conditions, or are in immediate danger of harming themselves will not be able to participate. This study is not only looking to see if VR therapy helps reduce social anxiety but also if it can be a cost-effective solution for mental health care in the future.
