ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how different doses of morphine, a common pain medication, can be safely used during spinal anesthesia for patients undergoing total hip replacement surgery. The goal is to find out which dose provides the best pain relief while minimizing risks, such as breathing difficulties, which can occur with morphine use. Since effective pain management is crucial after surgery, researchers want to ensure that the benefits of using morphine outweigh any potential side effects.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and be scheduled for a total hip replacement. They should be in good general health, meaning they have a body mass index (BMI) between 19 and 30 and no serious medical conditions that could complicate the use of spinal anesthesia. Participants will need to provide informed consent and will be monitored closely to ensure their safety throughout the study. This trial is not yet recruiting patients, but it aims to enhance pain management strategies following hip surgery, which may ultimately improve recovery experiences for many patients.
