ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into how common Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is among patients who are planning to have orthognathic surgery, which is a type of surgery that corrects facial bone structure. BDD is a mental health condition where a person is overly concerned about perceived flaws in their appearance. The goal of the study is to better understand how many patients may experience this condition before undergoing surgery.
To participate in the trial, individuals must be between 18 and 50 years old and be candidates for orthognathic surgery. However, those who have other serious mental health conditions, specific syndromes affecting the face, clefts, sleep apnea related to surgery, or connective tissue disorders are not eligible. As the study is not yet recruiting participants, more details will be shared once it begins. Participants can expect to undergo assessments to see if they have symptoms of BDD, which will help improve care for future patients considering similar surgeries.
