ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring the use of high-flow nasal oxygen therapy to help patients who are having emergency surgery and may have full stomachs. When patients with full stomachs go under general anesthesia, they are at a higher risk of complications, such as regurgitation and aspiration (when stomach contents enter the lungs). The study aims to see if providing high-flow oxygen before surgery can improve safety and oxygen levels during the critical moments when patients are being sedated and intubated (having a breathing tube placed).
To be eligible for the trial, participants need to be 18 years or older and scheduled for emergency surgery that requires intubation, but they should not have any major breathing issues or problems that would make intubation difficult. If you join the study, you will receive high-flow nasal oxygen therapy before your surgery, and the researchers will monitor how it affects your oxygen levels and overall safety during the procedure. This trial is important because it could lead to better care for patients facing emergency surgeries under challenging conditions.
