ClinConnect Summary

The Trans-Led Care Study is exploring a new support program called the TLC program, designed specifically for transgender adults who struggle with substance use or are in recovery. This program uses a counseling approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which helps individuals develop mindfulness skills to better connect with their personal values and improve their mental health. The TLC program was created by a group of transgender and gender diverse community members, along with mental health professionals and researchers, to ensure it meets the unique needs of its participants.

To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old, primarily speak English, and live in the U.S. They should also identify as transgender and have faced problems related to alcohol or drug use within the past year. Participants can expect to engage in a supportive group setting and receive help tailored to their experiences. This study aims to provide valuable insights into effective support for transgender individuals dealing with substance use issues.
