Variceal Bleeding Tranexamic Acid And Vitamin K Liver Cirrhosis

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is examining the effectiveness of a combination of Tranexamic acid and vitamin K injections in helping to control upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) in patients with cirrhosis, a serious liver condition. Researchers want to see if this treatment can reduce bleeding and improve survival rates compared to a placebo, which is a harmless saline solution. The study will include adults aged 18 and older who have liver cirrhosis and are experiencing UGIB. However, it will not include those with certain allergies, pregnancy, or serious kidney issues.

If you or a loved one participates, you will receive either the active treatments or the placebo, along with standard care for your condition. All participants will stay in the hospital for at least 5 days for monitoring after the bleeding episode, and follow-up visits will occur at 6 weeks to check for any rebleeding or related health issues. If everything goes well, you may be discharged with instructions to monitor your health and return to the hospital if you experience any concerning symptoms.
