ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how to help nurses keep their skills sharp when it comes to neonatal resuscitation, which is the emergency care given to newborns who need help breathing. Even though nurses receive training for this important skill, many find that they forget what they learned over time. In this study, researchers want to see if two different teaching methods can help nurses maintain their skills better. One method is traditional classroom-style training with an instructor, while the other involves practice in small groups with peers. Both methods will use a mobile training station where nurses can practice for 30 minutes, with sessions held three times over three months.
To be eligible for this study, nurses must work in the neonatal intensive care unit at CHU Sainte-Justine and have at least a year of experience in caring for newborns. They also need to have completed initial training in neonatal resuscitation. Unfortunately, neonatal transport nurses and those who teach resuscitation training are not eligible to participate. Nurses who join the trial can expect to practice their skills and contribute to finding better educational methods that could improve care for newborns in need.
