ClinConnect Summary
The HI-HOPE Project is a clinical trial designed to help older adults in rural Taiwan live healthier and more active lives as they age. The study focuses on improving various health aspects, including cognitive function, mobility, depression, and nutrition, through a mix of community-based activities and telehealth services. Participants aged 55 and older will be screened every six months for two years to assess their overall health. Those who qualify will be divided into two groups: one will receive additional support like exercise classes, mindfulness activities, and remote health education, while the other will receive standard care without these extra interventions.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be able to walk without severe difficulties and should understand verbal questions. They should also be engaged in their community at least once a week. This project aims to create a model of care that can be used to improve health outcomes for older adults not just in Taiwan but in other places as well. It's an exciting opportunity for those who want to actively contribute to research that could enhance the quality of life for many seniors facing health challenges.
