ClinConnect Summary
The BUMP2.0 Feasibility Study is a clinical trial designed to help pregnant women manage their weight gain during pregnancy, which is important for the health of both mothers and babies. Many women in the UK gain more weight than recommended, leading to potential health issues. This study aims to test a mobile app that encourages women to regularly weigh themselves and track their weight gain. The app will provide feedback on whether their weight gain is in a healthy range and offer helpful resources for managing weight during pregnancy.
To participate in this trial, women must be at least 18 years old, pregnant with a single baby, and less than 20 weeks along in their pregnancy. They also need to have access to the internet via a smartphone or tablet, as well as weighing scales, and be able to communicate in English. Participants will use the app from early or mid-pregnancy until delivery, and their experiences will be shared through optional interviews. By understanding how well women engage with the app, the researchers hope to pave the way for a larger study that could confirm whether this approach can effectively help manage weight gain during pregnancy.
