Age Related Hearing Loss Hearing Aids Randomized Controlled Trial

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how well domestic hearing aids compare to imported hearing aids for people with age-related hearing loss, which is a common condition in older adults. The study will involve 80 participants aged between 60 to 85 years who have moderate to severe hearing loss. To be eligible, participants must be diagnosed with age-related hearing loss that affects both ears and primarily makes it hard to hear higher frequencies. They should also be able to speak Chinese and be right-handed.

During the trial, participants will be randomly assigned to use either domestic or imported hearing aids for a short 30-minute session. Researchers will measure how well they can hear before and after using the aids. They will also gather information on how much the hearing aids cost and how much they improve hearing ability. After the trial, participants will fill out questionnaires to share their experiences with the hearing aids. This study aims to find out which type of hearing aid is more effective and provides better value for money.
