ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how ultrasound technology can help assess the risk of falls in older adults with knee osteoarthritis. Falls can be a serious concern for these patients, often leading to hospital visits or worse outcomes. The researchers will track about 250 adults aged 60 and older who have knee osteoarthritis to see how their muscle strength and other factors relate to their risk of falling over a three-month period. By understanding these connections, doctors hope to identify which patients are more likely to fall and find better ways to prevent it.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 60 years old, have a confirmed diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis, and be able to walk independently, possibly with the help of assistive devices. Participants will need to agree to the study and have received some treatment in an outpatient rehabilitation setting. However, those with certain severe health issues or who are planning knee surgery during the study period will not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo tests that will help researchers learn more about fall risks and potentially improve future care for patients like you.
