Brain Fog Red Tide Respiratory Coughing Neurotoxin Beach Florida

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is investigating the health effects of harmful algal blooms, particularly focusing on a toxin called brevetoxin that is released during red tide events in Florida. The study aims to understand how exposure to these toxins might be linked to neurological disorders, which affect the brain and nervous system. Researchers are looking for adult participants who live in certain counties in southwest Florida, are at least 18 years old, and can provide consent to join the study.

If you decide to participate, you’ll need to attend at least four study visits and provide some biological samples during the trial. The study is open to people of all races and ethnicities, but you must be able to speak and write in English. If you have any medical conditions that might make it unsafe for you to join, or if you have difficulty giving blood samples, you may not be eligible. This research is important as it could help us better understand the health impacts of these environmental toxins on our communities.
