ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a special nutritional drink, called immunonutrition, can help patients who are about to have colorectal surgery. The researchers want to see if taking this drink for a week before surgery can improve certain levels in the blood compared to a different, but similar drink. By doing this, they hope to understand how these drinks might help patients recover better after surgery.
To participate in the trial, you need to be over 18 years old and scheduled for elective colorectal surgery, which involves removing part of the intestine and reconnecting it. You should also be willing to drink the study supplement daily for seven days leading up to your surgery. It’s important to note that if you have certain health conditions, like chronic kidney disease or liver problems, or if you have allergies to milk or soy, you may not be eligible to join. During the study, your health will be monitored, and you’ll have a couple of assessments to help the researchers track how you’re doing.
