ClinConnect Summary
The aPPPle pilot study is a research trial that aims to explore how people may be exposed to certain plant protection products (PPP) used in apple orchards and how this exposure might affect their health. Specifically, the study will look at two types of chemicals: an insecticide called acetamiprid and two fungicides named dithianon and dodine. The focus is on understanding the exposure levels of farmers, workers, and nearby residents, especially since these products are applied at high altitudes, which may increase the chance of drift or unintended exposure.
To participate in this study, individuals must be over 18 years old, able to understand the study’s requirements, and consent to take part. They should also have health insurance. However, those who work directly with the tested chemicals are not eligible. Participants can expect to contribute to important research that could help ensure safety standards for the use of these products in agriculture. The study is currently recruiting participants, and it will provide valuable insights that could lead to larger future studies.
