ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of metal-on-metal (MoM) hip implants on hearing loss. Researchers want to find out how common hearing loss is in patients who have these hip replacements, especially looking at the levels of metals like cobalt and chromium in their blood. By understanding the relationship between these metal levels and hearing loss, the study aims to improve patient care for those with MoM hip implants.
To participate in this study, you need to have a MoM hip implant, either new or revised, and be willing to take part in the research. You should also be able to speak and write in Dutch. However, if you have had previous ear surgeries or have other specific ear-related health issues, you won’t be eligible for this study. If you join, you can expect regular check-ins to monitor your hearing and blood metal levels, helping researchers gather important information about the safety of MoM hip implants.
