ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on helping children with cancer who experience nausea and vomiting as a side effect of chemotherapy. The main goal is to see if a special computer program, called a machine learning model, can predict which patients are likely to vomit within the next 96 hours after their treatment. By accurately identifying these patients, the medical team can take steps to help prevent vomiting, which can improve the children's comfort and quality of life during their hospital stay.
The trial will include all pediatric patients admitted to the oncology service at SickKids, except those who are discharged before the prediction is made. Once admitted, doctors will use the model to assess each child's risk of vomiting by 8:30 AM. Pharmacists will then work with the medical team to ensure that the right care is given to reduce vomiting. Participants can expect close monitoring and personalized care based on the predictions from the model. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it aims to improve how we manage nausea and vomiting in young cancer patients.
