ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how treatments that raise blood pressure during sedation affect blood flow to the brain in children having an MRI. When children are sedated for an MRI, they often experience a drop in blood pressure, which can affect how well their brain receives blood. The researchers want to find out if the common practice of treating low blood pressure actually helps improve blood flow to the brain, since previous studies in adults showed that even when blood pressure returned to normal, brain blood flow sometimes decreased.
The trial is open to children aged 6 months to 12 years who are scheduled for a brain MRI. However, children with certain conditions, such as known brain tumors or specific brain abnormalities, cannot participate. If your child is eligible and chooses to take part, they will receive standard care during their MRI, and their blood flow will be monitored using advanced MRI technology. This study aims to improve our understanding of how to keep children's brains healthy during sedation for medical imaging.
