ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different pain management strategies affect patients' pain after major surgery at Mulago National Referral Hospital. The researchers want to find out how often doctors use a mix of pain medications before, during, and after surgery, and whether using these combinations helps control pain better than using just one type of medication. They will gather information from patient records and ask patients to rate their pain every six hours for the first 24 hours after surgery.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for specific types of elective surgeries, such as orthopedic surgeries on the arms or legs, abdominal surgeries, or chest surgeries. Unfortunately, patients who cannot communicate clearly due to low consciousness or certain health conditions are not eligible. If you choose to participate, you will be asked to share your pain experience after surgery, which will help improve pain management techniques for future patients.
