ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a medication called gabapentin on patients recovering from nasal surgery. Emergence agitation, which can cause confusion, agitation, and even dangerous behaviors after anesthesia, is a common issue that can occur in about 22% of adults following such procedures. The trial aims to find out if two different doses of gabapentin (400 mg and 600 mg) can help reduce these symptoms and improve recovery for patients after nasal surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult aged 18-60, in good health, and scheduled for elective nasal surgery. However, individuals with certain conditions, like a sensitivity to gabapentin, epilepsy, or those currently using similar medications, will not be eligible. If you join the study, you will receive one of the doses of gabapentin and be monitored for any changes in your recovery experience, especially regarding agitation. This research could lead to safer recovery methods for patients facing similar surgeries in the future.
