ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether applying a warm saline solution to the intestines during abdominal surgery can help reduce nausea and vomiting after the operation and improve bowel function. The study will involve around 60 patients who are having surgery through a method called laparotomy. These patients will be divided into two groups: one will receive the warm saline treatment, and the other will follow the usual procedure without the heated saline. Researchers want to see if the warmth helps patients recover better.
To participate, patients need to be at least 18 years old, have a normal body weight, and be able to communicate clearly. They should not have had previous gastrointestinal surgeries or certain health conditions that might affect the results. Participants can expect standard care before, during, and after their surgery, plus the added treatment if they are in the intervention group. This study aims to improve recovery experiences for patients undergoing abdominal surgery.
