ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how blood volume and fluid distribution change during and after surgery for patients undergoing total hip replacement. This is important because understanding these changes can help doctors manage fluids better, which can improve recovery and reduce complications after surgery. The study will use a method called carbon monoxide rebreathing, which is a simple and non-invasive way to measure blood volume changes.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults aged 18 and older who are scheduled for a total hip replacement and can understand and speak Danish. They should also be able to participate in the measurement process. However, individuals who have certain conditions, such as severe blood loss during surgery or need for a blood transfusion, or those with specific health issues that could affect the measurements, will not be included. If you join this study, you can expect to undergo the CO-rebreathing measurement before and after your surgery to help researchers better understand how blood volume changes during this procedure.
