ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding how well different tests can identify frailty in older adults who are about to have surgery. Frailty means a person may be weaker and more vulnerable to complications after surgery. In this study, researchers will compare several tools that help measure frailty to see which one does the best job at predicting whether a patient might face problems after their operation. The tools being tested include the Risk Analysis Index, Clinical Frailty Scale, Groningen Frailty Indicator, Edmonton Frail Scale, and LUCAS-FI.
To be eligible to participate in this trial, individuals need to be 70 years old or older, scheduled for a surgery that is expected to last at least 120 minutes, and able to understand the tests in German. The study is not currently recruiting participants, but once it starts, those who meet the criteria can expect to undergo assessments using these different frailty tools during their pre-surgery visit. This research aims to find the best way to evaluate frailty in older adults so that doctors can better prepare for their surgery and minimize risks.
