ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a special program to help parents introduce peanut products to their infants, to reduce the chances of peanut allergies later in life. Peanut allergies affect about 2.5% of children and can cause serious health issues. Research suggests that starting to feed infants peanut products before they are 7 months old and continuing to do so regularly can significantly lower the risk of developing an allergy. However, many parents are unsure about how to safely introduce peanuts and are worried about allergic reactions. This trial will assess whether having a supervised feeding session in a pediatric office can help parents feel more comfortable and encourage them to follow the guidelines for introducing peanuts.
To be eligible for the trial, infants must be between 4 to 6 months old, be able to eat by mouth, and should not have tried peanuts yet or have any signs of a peanut allergy. Unfortunately, infants who are not eating solid foods or who have a peanut allergy are not eligible to participate. If your child qualifies and you choose to participate, you can expect to attend sessions where trained professionals will guide you on how to safely introduce peanuts into your child's diet. This could be a valuable opportunity to learn and help reduce the risk of peanut allergies in your child.
