ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating whether applying a hot water pack to the lower back can help improve digestion and recovery for patients who have just had abdominal surgery. The study will involve 80 adult participants, all of whom will be recovering from elective abdominal surgeries. Half of the participants will receive the hot pack treatment three times a day for the first two days after their surgery, while the other half will receive standard care without the hot pack. Researchers will measure how quickly patients start passing gas, having bowel movements, and being able to eat again.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 18 years old and undergoing elective abdominal surgery. They should not have any previous surgeries on their gastrointestinal system or certain medical conditions that could affect their recovery. The goal of the study is to see if the hot water pack can help speed up recovery and reduce discomfort, ultimately improving the quality of the healing process after surgery. This trial is currently not recruiting participants but aims to provide valuable insights into supportive care for surgical patients.
