ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how virtual reality (VR) goggles and distraction cards can help children aged 6 to 12 years old feel less anxious and improve their physical responses during inhaler therapy, which is often used to treat respiratory infections. The goal is to see if these fun tools can make the experience of using an inhaler less stressful for kids in the pediatric intensive care unit.
To be eligible for this study, children must be receiving inhaler treatment (specifically salbutamol) and be between 6 and 12 years old. They should not have any vision or hearing issues and must be able to communicate. Additionally, both the child and their parent need to agree to participate in the study. Children with a history of surgery, those taking sedatives, or those experiencing a severe asthma attack or fever will not be included. If a child joins the study, they can expect to use the VR goggles or distraction cards during their inhaler therapy sessions, with the goal of making the treatment easier and more comfortable.
