ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to understand how feeding difficulties affect the quality of life for children who have a tracheal cannula, which is a tube that helps them breathe. Researchers want to find out how common these feeding difficulties are, the specific types of problems children face while eating, and how both the children and their parents feel about their overall quality of life. To gather this information, they will conduct interviews and use specific assessment tools to evaluate the children's experiences.
To participate in this study, children must be under 18 years old and have a tracheostomy, which is a surgical opening in the neck to help with breathing. They will be recruited from the Long Term Intensive Care Unit at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden, from March 2025 to March 2027. Unfortunately, children who cannot undergo full evaluations will not be included in the study. Participants can expect to be interviewed about their eating experiences and how they feel about their lives, which will help researchers understand the relationship between feeding difficulties and quality of life in these children.
