ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a specific blood protein called renin changes during heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine. Renin can increase when the body has low blood pressure or when organs aren't getting enough oxygen. Researchers want to see if measuring renin levels can help doctors understand how to better manage blood pressure during these surgeries, which could lead to improved care for patients.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult (18 years or older) scheduled for a planned heart surgery that will involve the use of a heart-lung machine. However, if you are having emergency surgery, a heart or lung transplant, or have certain severe health conditions, you might not be eligible. If you join the study, you will have blood samples taken at various times during your surgery to check how renin levels change, helping researchers learn more about this important protein and its role in heart surgery outcomes.
