ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring how breathing exercises can affect strength and walking ability in older adults who are not very active. The researchers want to see if making the breathing muscles work harder, or doing a warm-up, can improve not just breathing but also strength in the arms and legs, as well as overall physical performance. Participants will be divided into three groups: one that will experience muscle fatigue from breathing exercises, another that will just warm up their muscles, and a control group that won’t do either. They will measure things like how strong the breathing muscles are and how well participants can function physically.
To join the study, participants need to be over 60 years old, able to move independently, and engage in less than 150 minutes of physical activity each week. However, those with certain medical conditions, cognitive impairments, or recent surgeries will not be eligible. While the trial is not yet recruiting participants, it promises to provide valuable insights into how breathing training can benefit older adults' overall health and fitness.
