ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new way to manage pain after heart surgery using a technique called the deep parasternal intercostal plane block. This method aims to provide better pain relief compared to traditional pain management methods, which can sometimes leave patients in discomfort, especially when they cough or move. The researchers want to see how effective this nerve block is in helping patients recover more comfortably after their surgery.

To participate in this trial, patients should be planning to have heart surgery that involves opening the chest (sternotomy) and be between the ages of 65 and 74. However, some individuals may not be eligible, including those experiencing emergencies, those with certain health conditions (like severe kidney or liver problems), or those who are pregnant. If you join the study, you can expect to receive the nerve block during your surgery and then be monitored afterward to see how well it helps with pain management and recovery. This trial is currently looking for participants, and your involvement could contribute to improving pain management for future heart surgery patients.
