ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring how the thickness of a specific part of the thyroid gland, called the isthmus, might affect the difficulty of inserting a breathing tube (intubation) and viewing the airway (laryngoscopy) in patients undergoing treatment for hypothyroidism. Researchers are interested in understanding if patients with certain thyroid conditions might face more challenges during these procedures. To do this, they will measure the isthmus thickness using ultrasound before the procedure and assess how easy or difficult intubation is during anesthesia.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults aged 65 to 74 who are currently receiving treatment for hypothyroidism and have a moderate health status (ASA score of 2-3). Those with a history of difficult intubation, certain neck conditions, or severe obesity will not be included. Participants can expect a thorough evaluation of their thyroid condition and may undergo an anesthetic procedure that includes standard monitoring and care. This trial aims to improve safety and effectiveness in managing patients with thyroid issues during surgeries.
