ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effectiveness of a gel made from Salvia officinalis, commonly known as sage, in treating periodontitis, a serious gum disease that causes pockets to form in the gums. In the trial, participants will have two specific areas of gum pockets that are 5 mm deep or greater. One area will be treated with the sage gel along with standard cleaning, while the other area will receive just the standard cleaning for comparison.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should have periodontitis, at least 20 natural teeth, and certain measurements indicating gum disease severity. However, individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, smokers, or have certain health conditions that could affect their gum disease or require antibiotics will not be able to participate. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but once it begins, those who join can expect to receive careful treatment and monitoring to see how well the sage gel works in improving their gum health.
