ClinConnect Summary
The Covideo Study is researching a new way to provide therapy for young people aged 14 to 18 who struggle with social anxiety disorder (SAD). The main focus is to see if therapy delivered through a screen, like video calls, is as effective as traditional in-person therapy sessions. The study will also look at how much young people and their therapists like this screen method and whether it is a good choice for the environment and costs. By participating, youth will receive either screen or office therapy, which will be decided by a random draw.
To take part in this study, young people must have social anxiety disorder and speak Norwegian fluently. They should not have severe depression, a serious risk of harming themselves, or other significant mental health issues. Participants will start with a short questionnaire and an online interview to assess their needs. After meeting their therapist in person, they will attend 14 weekly therapy sessions and complete questionnaires to track their progress. Follow-up interviews will happen after therapy and again at six months, two years, and four years later to see how they are doing. Parents will also be involved in the study.
