ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of bariatric surgery, a type of weight-loss surgery, on liver health in obese patients. Specifically, it aims to compare the liver condition of patients who undergo bariatric surgery with those who are managing their obesity through lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise. The researchers will look at liver fat levels and other health markers to see if surgery leads to better improvements in weight loss and overall health compared to other treatments.

Participants in the trial will be adults aged 18 and older who have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher. The study will include two groups: one group will have bariatric surgery, while the other will receive lifestyle interventions. The trial will not include individuals who have had previous weight-loss surgery, certain intestinal diseases, or specific health issues related to the liver or kidneys. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo tests to measure your liver health and other health indicators, helping researchers learn more about the benefits of bariatric surgery for obesity-related health problems.
