ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a new oral medication called Roxadustat to see if it can help patients with kidney failure who are undergoing hemodialysis. Many of these patients experience anemia, which means they don't have enough red blood cells, as well as heart problems and a condition known as MIA syndrome that involves poor nutrition and inflammation. The trial will compare Roxadustat to standard treatments, such as injections and iron supplements, to find out if Roxadustat can improve not only anemia but also heart health and overall nutrition in these patients.

To participate in this study, individuals must be over 18 years old and have been on hemodialysis for more than three months. They must also be willing to give their consent to join the study. Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive Roxadustat or continue with their current anemia treatment for six months. During this time, researchers will monitor their heart function, nutrition levels, inflammation, and anemia. It's important to note that individuals who are pregnant, have certain serious health issues, or specific types of anemia unrelated to kidney disease may not be eligible to participate.
