ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether a medication called pentoxifylline can help reduce blood vessel hardening, known as vascular calcification, in people with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Vascular calcification is a common problem for CKD patients and can increase the risk of heart issues. In this study, some participants will receive pentoxifylline along with their regular medications, while others will only take their usual medications. The researchers will compare the levels of vascular calcification in both groups over six months to see if pentoxifylline makes a positive difference.
To be eligible for this trial, you must be an adult aged 18 or older with chronic kidney disease and have a specific level of kidney function (measured by something called eGFR). However, individuals who are on regular dialysis, have had a kidney transplant, are pregnant, or have certain medical conditions may not qualify. If you participate, you can expect regular check-ups and tests to monitor your health throughout the six-month period. This study aims to explore whether pentoxifylline could be a new way to help protect the blood vessels of people living with chronic kidney disease.
