ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into two specific types of pain relief methods, called pericapsular nerve group blocks and erector spinae plane blocks, to see how well they work alongside general anesthesia for older patients undergoing total hip replacement surgery. The goal is to find out if these additional pain relief techniques can help improve comfort and outcomes for patients aged 75 and older during and after their surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be over 75 years old, of any gender, and classified as having a low to moderate risk for anesthesia complications. They must be scheduled for total hip replacement surgery under general anesthesia. However, those who refuse to participate, have a high body weight, are allergic to local anesthetics, have infections, or have serious pre-existing health issues like advanced kidney or liver diseases cannot take part in the study. If you join, you can expect to receive standard anesthesia along with one of the new pain relief techniques being tested, and your progress will be monitored throughout the process.
