ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a specific type of exercise called "eccentric training" can help people recover after surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The researchers will include 34 participants between the ages of 18 and 40 who are scheduled for ACL reconstruction surgery. After the surgery, participants will be divided into two groups: one group will follow traditional rehabilitation exercises, while the other group will focus more on eccentric training, which involves lengthening the muscles while they are under tension. Both groups will follow a structured recovery program over several phases, starting in the first week after surgery.
Participants can expect to be assessed at different points during their recovery—right after surgery, 12 weeks later, and again at 25 weeks after surgery. The study will measure various outcomes, including the strength of their knee muscles and their overall ability to perform physical activities. It's important to note that to be eligible, participants must start rehabilitation within seven days of surgery and should not have other injuries that would prevent them from starting the program. The goal of this study is to see if eccentric training can improve recovery and help people get back to their sports and activities more effectively.
