ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how visual rehabilitation can help improve anxiety and depression in older adults who have significant vision loss due to a condition called age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The study will involve patients aged 55 and older who have moderate to severe vision impairment, specifically from advanced non-exudative AMD. Participants will go through a screening visit to assess their vision and complete questionnaires about their feelings of anxiety and depression.

If eligible, they will then take part in a 60-day visual rehabilitation program that includes group meetings designed to help them cope with their vision loss. After the program, participants will have another examination and complete the same questionnaires to see if their mental health has improved. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it’s important that those interested understand that they should not have vision problems from other eye diseases or mild visual impairment. Overall, this trial aims to better understand how helping people with their vision can also support their emotional well-being.
