ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how soon patients can safely start eating again after having surgery on their small intestine. There are two approaches: some doctors recommend starting food right after patients wake up from anesthesia, while others prefer waiting 24 to 48 hours. This study aims to compare these two methods to see which is better for recovery.
To participate in this trial, patients should be between 15 and 65 years old and scheduled for elective surgery involving a small bowel anastomosis, which is a procedure where two parts of the small intestine are connected. However, people taking certain medications that weaken the immune system, those who do not agree to participate, or those with a history of stomach surgery are not eligible. If you join the study, you will help researchers understand more about the best time to resume eating after this type of surgery, which could improve recovery for future patients.
