ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a special program called Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) for adolescents undergoing surgery for idiopathic scoliosis, a condition where the spine curves abnormally. The goal of the trial is to see if following this program can help patients recover more quickly and have a better quality of life after surgery compared to standard care. ERAS includes steps like educating patients before surgery, managing pain effectively during and after the procedure, and keeping in touch with patients after they go home.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be between 11 and 17 years old, have been diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, and need to have surgery called posterior vertebral fusion. They also need to have consent from their parents or legal guardians. Patients in the trial can expect to spend about 5 to 7 days in the hospital and will follow a specific recovery plan that focuses on reducing pain and improving overall recovery. This study is important because it aims to provide solid evidence on whether ERAS can really help adolescents recover better after scoliosis surgery.
